Get Connected

Our purpose at CUMC is to be and make disciples, and so we offer a wide range of ministries for all ages. We want to help in the education and spiritual growth of our members. Refer to the Children's page and the Youth page for opportunities specific to those age levels.

Spiritual growth opportunities for adults include Sunday School, small group Bible studies, prayer groups, men's groups, women's groups, and more. See some of the ministries listed below.

Stephen Ministry
In addition to pastoral care, we believe in and offer congregational care through this one-on-one caring ministry found in many churches of many denominations.

Community Care Groups

Community Care groups are small groups that help group members know God better through Bible study, community building, worship, and outreach. Community care groups provide a set of traveling companions as each group member journeys along their path of discipleship formation. Groups are based both at the church, or hosted in group members homes.

Community Care Group Schedules
Olive Branch (Lorene Royer): 1st and 3rd Mondays @ 7 p.m.
Sinn Small Group (Karen Sinn): 2nd and 4th Mondays @ 7 p.m.
Messiah Ministry (Anne Miller): 1st and 3rd Wednesdays @ 9 a.m.
Wallace Small Group (Kay Wallace): 1st and 3rd Mondays @ 6 p.m. The Wallace group is taking a break for the summer, and will resume meeting Sept. 21, 2009.

Companions in Christ
Companions in Christ is a 26-week small group spiritual growth experience. Throughout the journey, participants will practice various forms of spiritual disciplines and will gain an appreciation of how God can be present to them through each discipline.

Disciple Bible Study
Disciple Bible Study is a program designed to take a person on a journey of faith through the Bible. The study is a small-group experience where all members of the group will share their faith with one another. Disciple Bible Study typically begins in September each year and runs through May, although we also offer short-term Disciple studies in the spring and fall that run approximately eight weeks each. The program is in four phases presently, each uniquely crafted to teach God's word fully.

Wednesday Night Bible Study
A Ray Vander Laan study, led by Kevin White, meets each Wednesday evening in Room 201 at 6:15 pm.  This study provides a wonderful historical context to understand the Bible.

Prayer Groups
Two prayer groups meet to devote their time together to praying for the needs of the church and community.  Both groups meet in the prayer room, one on Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m., the other on Saturday mornings at 8 a.m.

Men's Ministries
CUMC offers several men’s ministries and activities to encourage and equip men for living their everyday lives and for growing as disciples of Jesus Christ. Small group studies meet Saturday mornings at 7 a.m. and Wednesday mornings at 6:30. A monthly breakfast on the second Saturday of the month at 8 a.m. is an opportunity to join together as a larger group for fellowship and planning missions and other activities. Programs also include social activities and occasional special conferences and retreat events.

“Ordinary men leading ordinary lives, working together through the Scriptures to know an extra-ordinary God.”

Crown Financial Groups
Each group meets weekly for 12 weeks to study and review what the Bible says about finances and money. The program includes practical applications, such as creating a budget and debt reduction schedule.
